Job Description

Job Overview
The editorial assistant assists in the development and delivery of high-quality medical education materials. This 
diverse role supports all tactical elements of client medical education programs, including advisory boards and digital 
tactics.

Core Responsibilities
• Copyedit, style, and proofread all materials, including slide decks, scripts, and communications
• Assist in fact-checking materials 
• Prepare materials and references for medical-legal review and become familiar with the submission process
• Ensure all written communication produced aligns with the Virgo house style format and quality 
• Assist with ordering references and obtaining permissions; maintain permissions grids
• Develop therapy area knowledge to assist team in identifying errors
• Follow and suggest updates to the Virgo style guide; follow client-specific style guides
• Manage and coordinate development of materials in liaison with account and medical teams, including 
editing, style, layout, color, and format issues, and upload to online review systems such as Veeva Vault 
• Assist account and medical teams with tracking status of materials in online review systems and 
implementing review feedback, while maintaining editorial standards
• Assist account teams in compiling the results to program evaluations completed at live programs
• Work within agreed-on deadlines and budgeted hours to complete projects
• Proactively flag issues, inform the team of impending deadlines, and chase comments
• Act as a team player within the wider Virgo team
• Build an in-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, Virgo, and client environment
• Keep updated on new developments within the med education environment and other med education 
agency activity

Experience/Skills Required
• Excellent attention to detail
• Excellent organization and administration skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Minimum 6 months’ editorial experience
• Working knowledge of copyright law and procedures
• Ability to work under pressure
• Systematic and logical approach to planning
• Experience with Veeva Vault or similar systems a plus

Level of Experience
• 0-1 year of experience at a healthcare communications agency 

Qualification
• Educated to degree level (or preferably higher) in a medical/science discipline

$40,000-$55,000

Actual compensation offered within the range will depend upon, among other factors: a candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience; actual ranges for current or former employees in the role; and market considerations.
